How the game works
The orb rides the middle lane and never moves. Rows of barriers travel down toward it, each with an opening in one of three slots.
One tap slides the opening of every gate on screen one slot to the right, wrapping from the right edge back to the left. You do not steer — you move the world. Fixing the gate in front of you also moves the three behind it, and that is the whole game.
Two things follow from that, and they are the entire skill curve. Three taps returns every gate to where it started, so you can cycle a full turn to stay in phase while you wait. And not every gate answers to one tap: heavy gates move once per two taps, fragile gates accept exactly one shift ever, and reverse gates slide the other way.
Common questions
It is too hard
Start on Steady, the leftmost of the three boards on the home screen. It is the same game with a slower ramp and the awkward gate types arriving much later. Each board keeps its own record, so moving up later costs you nothing, and nothing you can buy makes the game easier.
If a particular stretch keeps ending your runs, tap Practise on the home screen to drop straight into the deepest zone you have reached and rehearse it.
I bought Remove Ads and the ads came back
Open Settings › Restore in the game. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so this also restores them on a new iPhone. If it still does not take, email us.
The Remove Ads row says the App Store could not be reached
The lookup failed, usually because of a connection problem. Tap Try again; nothing is charged while that is showing. If the row has disappeared entirely, the purchase is temporarily unavailable on our side rather than yours, and it will return without you doing anything.
My progress is gone
Progress is stored on your device only, so deleting the app deletes it, and it does not follow you to a new phone. We do not keep a copy, which means we cannot restore it — that is the trade for a game that needs no account and collects nothing.
When does the Daily Run change?
At midnight UTC. Everyone plays the same gate sequence for that date, which is what makes the score worth comparing. Daily goals refresh at the same time, and their targets are fixed at the rollover so they cannot move underneath you during the day.
Why did my daily streak reset?
The streak counts days on which you finished the Daily Run, not days you opened the app. Missing a day, or playing the daily without completing it, ends the streak.
Can I turn off sound or haptics?
Yes — both are switches in Settings inside the game.
The motion bothers me
GateBlink follows the system Reduce Motion setting in iOS Settings › Accessibility › Motion. With it on, menu transitions stop moving and only fade.
Do themes change how the game plays?
No. Themes change colour and line treatment only — never the geometry, never the timing. Nothing purchasable can make the game easier, which is what keeps a score worth comparing to anyone else's.
Requirements
GateBlink runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later, in portrait, with one thumb. It plays entirely offline, with no account and no sign-in.
